Summit Supports
Our continued aim is to increase the participation and inclusion of women, and people from different backgrounds and situations, in trail and mountain running in Ireland.
With this in mind our SUMMIT SUPPORTS programme has been developed.
2023 was the inaugural year of this programme. Throughout 2023 we've provided opportunities to women, from different backgrounds and situations, to ACCESS trail running, racing, coaching, mentorship, mountain navigation, wilderness first aid and leadership training.
Over the summer of 2023 we held an 8-week trail running series for Sanctuary Runners with the support of Wicklow Local Sports Partnership in Bray.
November through December 2023 we held a pilot trail run series with residents of Kippure Direct Provision Centre. Out of this series Trail Criú was born. This group meets for weekly trail runs and park run. They also take part in trail races and outings. For more www.trailcriu.net.
Summit Supports 2023 was made possible through the generous support of Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue, Excel Sports Donegal, Gaelforce Events, Missing Link Coaching, Sanctuary Runners, Simple Strength Leixlip, Wicklow Sports Partnership, our run leaders and trail running community.
O’Neills Sportswear, Irish Mountain Running Association and various running and fitness clubs have provided kit donations for our 2023 Summit Supports participants.
In 2024, through our Summit Supports, we can offer support to women facing the following challenges:
For women experiencing the following challenges:
